Tuesday: Rafa vs. Fish (Set 1)
Hola, from the box seats, courtesy of Chris Carey of Ace Authentic. I'll try to blog from here. I may have to stop, or do it just during changeovers if it bothers people in the area. But I don't think it's going to be a full house, so it may not be an issue. This seat is so wonderful!!!! *notworthy* to Chris.
The women's match finally finished. Talk about boring. The good news is that the weather seems a bit warmer now than it did an hour or so ago. I'm not shivering at the moment. Awaiting the arrival of Rafa and Mardy. It's 9:18 local time . . . .
They are changing the net from WTA to ATP, and are shooting t-shirts into the crowd. There is no one sitting around me, so I think blogging won't be an issue.
The guys are in the tunnel doing interviews. Here they are. He is wearing white piratas, a gray jacket, and white bandana. He's jumping around as usual.
Oh my, Fish, has a whole crowd of people here for him. Rafa is drinking water, takes off jacket to reveal orange sleeveless. He's jumping up and down now. The girls are all screaming. Sprints to the back court, to warm up.
There is a lady sitting here, but I told her to let me know if the typing bothers her. Introducing Rafa now. She's a big fan of his, so I gave her a wristband. :D
Game 1: Mardy won the toss. Chose to serve 15-0. Fault. DF. 15-15. Fault. Return into net. 30-15. Fault. BH winner by Mardy. 40-15. FH winner by Rafa. 40-30. Adjusts his pants. Fault. Amazing FH by Rafa. Deuce. Fault. Ball incorrectly called out (Rafa shot). Overruled, and point to be replayed. Fault. Mardy hits long. Ad Rafa. Vamos!!! Fault Rafa shanks return. Yells at himself. Deuce. Rafa breaks. I got too excited and deleted some of my commentary by accident. Fish is not serving well. There is no wind. And Rafa seems a bit more comfortable tonight. Vamos!!
Game 2: A group of girls just yelled "We love you, Nadal." Rafa to serve. 15-0. Fault. DF. 15-15. Rafa hits FH long. 15-30. Come on, Rafa. I'm glad I'm not sitting among Fish fans. Long rally, Rafa draws error by Fish. 30-30. Fish hits long. 40-30. Mardy is playing in a long sleeve shirt. Rafa makes UE into net. Deuce. Mardy hits volley wide. AD Nadal. Fault. Return long. Game Rafa.
Game 3: Mardy to serve at 2-0, RN. Fans rallying behind Mardy. Fault. He is missing his first serve by a mile. Mardy can't handle topspin on his BH side. 0-15. Return long. 15-15. Mardy hits wide. 15-30. Vamos! Faujlt. Beautiful trademark Rafa pass. 15-40. Two breakpoints. Ace. 30-40. Let. Fault. Another screaming BH winner.
