Thursday: Day Off for Rafa and Us
I'm at the tennis center. No Rafa sightings yet. I'm watching Ljubicic vs. Federer. I was hoping for a good match, but Fed is already up a break.
Last night I wanted to update our website, but I couldn't get the internet in our room. I was not happy. After all the troubles at the Hyatt, I was really irritated and complained. In the end, they couldn't fix it, but they comped my room for the night. So I went to bed. This morning I was able to update the site, though.
As you can see, Peter Bodo wrote an interesting article about Rafa. And he also plugged our site. Please check it out, and post a note to him. I think he really loves us Kool-Aid Drinkers.
Bodo's Nadal Story
Photographer Cynthia Lum just arrived, and we are going to try to get together later. Also, I should try to see Don and Chris from Tennis Warehouse today. And Lopy and I are planning on having dinner.
A little while ago I had lunch, and was in line behind Richard Gasquet. He had lunch with Grosjean and some other French guys.
Federer just broke Ljub against to go up 6-2 in the first set. I don't think this is going to be an exciting match. Bring on the Bryans!
Vamos!!!

Bodo's article WAS great, thanks for the link and all your good stuff about the tournament, Susan, well done. you make it almost as good as if we were there. i don't know whether there are many complex layers to his character or if he's just a pretty straighforward, simple guy, but Rafa is OUR guy and the more i watch him play and read about him, the more i like him. thanks for all your great work.
Hey Susan and Uncle Lopy!
I LOVE your entries! its almost as if i am there with you! Thank you so much for the Peter Bodo article! I am a Kool-Aid Drinker and DARN PROUD!
My favorite parts of the Article had to be
"he doesn’t appear to be the analytical sort. He sat there, fidgeting and playing with the metal collar on the microphone until the moderator/translator had to ask him to stop because it was ruining thesound quality of the transmission."
"Watching Nadal, I was also struck by how deeply unorthodox he is. No, I don’t mean the relentless wedgie-hunting (Nadal plucked at his butt 16 times. And that was in the first game. And yes, I counted. We’ll cut him some slack, though, because the game had a lot of deuces)."
Thank You So Much! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for your reports - especially the off courts stories.
Bodo's article was entertaining and much better than the other one. Heh. And he's a bit unorthodox himself.
Bodo plays all ends against the middle to get attention to his blog. He gets fame by hanging on the famous in tennis. He pandered a little to everyone in that post on Nadal. Bottom line, attention for Bodo at the expense of everyone. Nadal can and should stand on his on. He doesn't need Bodo and Bodo's innuendo writing. Best to ignore Bodo. He sort of reminds me of Matt Drudge and his slimy Drudge Report.
Bodo is kind of a tabloid writer. Lots of titillation. Half of most of his posts seem to be on Bodo. I this, I that. Just my feeling and it's worth about as much as Bodo's ramblings.
